Description: For this project we listened to a PowerPoint introduction about Vincent Van Gogh where it talked about his life, his family and his artwork. The main piece that we discussed was his famous painting, Starry Night and how to analyze the different aspects of his artwork and wrote down 3 different things that we learned about from Van Gogh. When we started the project, I took a black piece of construction paper and different colors of tissue paper and started to glue it down with clear acrylic glue. Once all of the tissue paper had been put into pace I took and cut out a black house and some black tree outlines and glued them down onto my project. Then I took and outlined my house and trees with a white oil pastel and outlined other aspects om my project with other oil pastels. Then to finish off my Van Gogh project I drew swirls, lines, and snowflakes around on the project to give the project the feeling of it being a snowy night.
Extension Activity: An extension activity that could follow up with this assignment would be to discuss the different biomes that the students created and envisioned with their art project. The students can go into discussing different aspects of each biome and different animals that can be found in those biomes.Tuesday, October 29, 2024

Dot Day
Description: In celebration of Dot Day that occurred September 15th, we listened to the book called The Dot by Peter Reynolds. After we listened to the book we created our own dots in honor of Dot Day. First, we started with a coffee filter and wrote on it with markers and oil pastels. Then I took water-based paint and painted my dot to match the colors that I wanted. The water helped blend the markers into the project and created the picture of the dot that I wanted.
Extension Activity: An extension activity that I can do with this project is to go into teaching a lesson about shapes and ask the students to do a shape scavenger hunt around the classroom where they walk around and identify the different shapes of objects.
Teaching Elements and Principle
Description: For this project we went out and took pictures of the 12 different elements and principles in everyday lives and then we created definitions and presented it to the class. The presentation that we created featured the different pictures as well as a simple definition to help describe these concepts to elementary students.
Focal Point
Lines
Extension Activity: An extension activity that I would do with this project is to go on a field trip with the students to an art and sculpture walk. We would walk around and look at the different pieces of art and the students will identify in a short summary where they might have seen the different elements and principles while on the field trip.
